About
This guy spends most of his time creating. Photography, video production, motion graphics, sound design and music composition all mushed together in the edit.
It’s been over 2 wonderful and slightly stressful decades of creating video end to end - freelancing, agency, and for broadcast.
Emotional backstory: After leaving jobs teaching and performing music and ENG CameraOp, I entered the video industry professionally with a first role at the BBC in the 00’s as a broadcast assistant transitioning edit suites from DigiBeta to Final Cut 7, then Premiere and After Effects, training several departments. Sooner after the BBC move to Manchester, freelanced for BBC brands (Horizon, CBBC, Cbeebies, 1Xtra, Radio2, School of Journalism) where I worked on some of the most fun projects with amazing teams. Since then I’ve worked with some beautiful humans: creating education docs, behavioral-change, entertainment and short documentaries: human stories. The rest is history (see below).
Music - I’ve arranged, composed, engineered and am currently loving remixing. I have a habit of never listening to the original until it’s released - and it’s been super fun to see where my brain takes a remix without any reference.
I’m a huge advocate of cross-modal learning, and love mentoring in each agency I work with. Photography, motion principles, music and sound design play a a huge part in influencing my core video production styles and I encourage my mentees to embrace a broad skillset: tools to create emotive and impactful moments.
White wine and a cream egg - don’t judge me.
