I’m gonna write about things that make my job easier and hopefully help some of you out there who are starting out in my fields. I’ve been creating video, motion and sound for around 28 years now and there have been few things that have really helped along the way.

Certainly my years of fast turnaround editing at the BBC (Academy, Top Gear Interactive, Antiques Roadshow, Horizon Interactive…) was a fantastic experience in working closely with directors, writers and producers and where I learned most of my skills and speed. Working with Global Radio (Heart, Capital, Capital TV) Endemol, CBBC, CBeebies, and Nick.Jr helped shape my motion graphics skills; I absolutely loved designing and animating title sequences but didn’t love the 2 day turnaround! Currently I’m working for Zone Digital and occasionally for Global Radio it’s again uber-fast turnaround shoot, motion, edit and sound, but it’s nice to have all of my skillset used and more… More: who thought that being an IT guy would be part of this job? It IS: big time.
